Under normal circumstances, you can expect to receive an email response from me within 24 hours. So, if you have NOT received a response yet, PLEASE be sure to check your Junk/Spam folder in your email. Keep in mind that you can also contact me through direct message, on Facebook and Instagram. However, consider these methods are secondary, because I do not necessarily check them daily.
Are you social distancing?
Yes. All communication will be by phone or online only.
How much would it take to get started?
The first consultation, to decide if my services are right for you, is FREE! Most services are $20 or less. For example, one-on-one reading sessions for students is $20 each. It is recommended that students have at least 2 sessions a week. IF you prefer parent consultations instead, each 30 min session is also $20.
Why Should I Consider a Reading Literacy Consultant/Specialist?
When students are not reading proficiently, they usually do not have basic, foundational skills for reading and this can cause major problems. In some cases, there has even been an honest effort to solve the problem. Teachers have already conducted interventions, parents have already spent countless hours helping with homework, or a tutor may have worked with the child one-on-one. Even though it seems like everything that could possibly be done has already been done, the child is still struggling. You may notice that the child cannot comprehend simple text, has trouble sounding out words, or has not made any progress with their reading level. If any of this sounds familiar, you may want to reach out to a Reading Literacy Consultant/Specialist like me.
Can it Make a Difference?
Absolutely! Imagine sitting in your home and hearing your neighbor unsuccessfully attempting to crank his car. After several attempts, he goes to the store and purchases a battery. After properly replacing his old battery with the new one, his car starts. A few days later, your car does not start. Without checking anything under the hood, you go to the store and purchase a new battery. After all, it worked for your neighbor, right? Well, there is a slim chance that it could work, but it is highly unlikely. Since the PROBLEM with your car was never properly identified, you merely guessed the battery would be the solution.
In many cases, that is the way reading is treated today. Whenever a child struggles in reading, people tend to automatically put them on a generic plan that may have worked for SOMEONE else. This will only work if the plan matches the child’s specific needs, but it would be far better to assess the child, diagnose his/her specific reading needs, and come up with an individualized solution or plan.
Do You Offer Tutoring Services?
Yes. I WILL provide direct instruction for your child, based on his/her individual needs. This is why the assessment process is extremely important. HOWEVER, I do NOT help with general homework, assignments, etc. Instead, I work to fill those learning “gaps” that are keeping your child from being a successful reader. My goal is to help students become successful, independent readers, not to simply help them complete school assignments.

If you decide to have 1-1 reading sessions (tutoring) for your child, the reading assessment will be included in the regular $20 sessions, with no additional charge. It will help identify your child’s strengths and weaknesses as a reader. Your child will be able to progress at his or her own pace. As he/she masters various skills and meets specific reading goals, he/she will be able to move on to higher reading levels and/or new reading goals. I look forward to hearing from you soon!
